While everyone is going gaga over the McRib of McDonald’s and the Pancake Sandwich of Jollibee, Wendy’s seems to have taken a back seat. Though they do not necessarily serve the best burgers of the major fast food chains in Manila, they are definitely on my top 3! Their latest burger creation consists of all the usual ingredients of a burger – the 100% beef patty, crisp vegetables and the warm toasted bun you can only get at Wendy’s! What makes this burger special though is they’ve managed to take it up a notch by adding a handful of Tostitos and generously drizzling Sriracha sauce giving it that heat we all love!
I don’t recall any of the major fast food chains incorporating corn chips into their burgers and since I love doing this at home (A grilled cheese with potato/corn chips is the best sandwich you will ever have, trust me) I was pretty excited to try this out! Though the beef patty seemed to be a little bland, the flavors from the Tostitos and Sriracha sauce managed to distribute itself evenly throughout the whole burger. The Sriracha sauce didn’t taste like the legit Sriracha sauce that we all drown our Pho in, it was still a very tasty hot sauce! I also really enjoyed the crunch that the Tostitos provided. I do feel though that they could either provide a thicker beef patty or y’know… just throw in another burger patty altogether because all the other elements of the burger seemed to outshine the meat. Or maybe they could add a slice or two of bacon, bacon is always a good idea.
All in all, it was a delicious burger, nothing too out of the ordinary but definitely something I would crave for!
