Verdict: Your friendly neighborhood hang out
Budget: P250 – P300/head
Momma’s Boy Urban Dining is literally a home away from home. This place is actually a house that was converted into a restaurant by the owner. Although the place is quite hidden and parking is difficult, it is great if you want to spend a chill night with your friends somewhere more private. It is run by a fun group of friends who each contribute in their own way, whether it be management skills, culinary skills or even financial skills – they are all very involved and always on the floor mingling with the guests and making sure everything is running smoothly. This makes them approachable and allows the guests to feel right at home!
If you are a fan of spicy food, I highly recommend the Spicy Tuna Pasta. The spicy tuna pasta is actually spicy and unlike most tuna pastas I’ve tried out there, this one doesn’t taste fishy at all. The flavors of the tuna, olive oil, olives and tomatoes all come together to form a crave-worthy dish that will have you thinking about it even days after you’ve had it! It was honestly on my mind for at least a week after I had it – I’m not even kidding. I even attempted to make my own version at home but it didn’t even come close!
The wings at Momma’s Boy are honestly the best wings I have ever had, no exaggeration! I like it better than some places who actually specialize in wings. They are paired nicely with their own special dip, which in my opinion is better than bleu cheese and sour cream. I could probably eat 2 whole orders by myself! The wings are the perfect balance of crispy on the outside while juicy and tender on the inside – it is coated with a sauce that is the right amount of spicy and tangy. There are 3 levels of spice available: Mild, Medium Hot and Apocalypto – I suggest going for Medium Hot as this pairs nicely with an ice cold beer.
Another crowd pleaser is the Mozzarella sticks – crunchy on the outside with a generous filling of mozzarella cheese on the inside. Be careful when you order this because these are highly addictive mozzarella sticks and before you know it, you’ve eaten the entire serving and you’re ready to order your next one!
With the powerful combination of a great team, awesome recipes and a homey vibe, Momma’s Boy is sure to become your new favorite neighborhood restaurant!
