The rumors are true, the McRib is finally here!
If I’m being perfectly honest, the McRib has managed to please AND disappoint me. It’s good to know that McDonald’s Philippines is capable of producing a product like this. A seemingly fresh bread roll with a pork patty that has a more meaty texture than their beef patties topped with a smoky, sweet barbecue sauce.
It is quite disappointing though that all the McRib seemed to be was a pork patty, chopped onions, (2) pickles and the barbecue sauce that you get when you order McNuggets, all between a bread roll. Don’t get me wrong, I love the barbecue sauce! I just think that the pork patty they used deserves a much more flavorful sauce to really bring out all the flavors. When you hear the words “McRib,” a very juicy flavorful sandwich comes to mind but in reality, you just get a mediocre pork patty sandwich. I’ve read many comments from people saying that they would like it better without the pickle but in my opinion, the 2 slices of pickle that they put in there is what saved this sandwich from being a total fail. If McDonald’s could put a couple more slices of pickles in there, I’d probably give this sandwich a 3/5.
It is reasonably priced at around P120 for the small value meal and I’m sure will appeal to our Filipino taste buds! You also have the option to have the McRib patty with rice instead of the sandwich. It is only available in certain branches (The ones I’m aware of are in Makati – Greenbelt, People’s Support and JP Rizal). It may just be here for a short while but it probably won’t be missed when it’s gone.
I’d much rather see them bring back the McRice burgers!
