On the way to work this morning, I turned on the radio to see if any good songs were playing. I don’t usually listen to the radio because it is always just a bunch of DJs talking but today, I decided to take my chances and I am so glad I did! I turned on the radio to find the DJs talking (of course) but I heard the words ” First Edible Coffee Cup” and I was intrigued. I didn’t get to hear much of their discussion because I turned the radio on a little too late so upon reaching the office, I quickly turned on my laptop and typed those exact words into Google and here is what I found:
KFC in the UK has partnered up with Seattle’s Best Coffee and food scientists, The Robin Collective to bring to life an edible coffee cup. (!!!) The “Scoff-ee Cup” is made from a cookie, wrapped in sugar paper and lined with heat-resistant white chocolate. The cup is made to hold your hot coffee until eventually the white chocolate starts to melt into your coffee – sounds amazing, right? Now here is where the food scientists come in, they have infused these cups with different scents like Coconut Sun Cream, Wild Flowers and Freshly Cut Grass. I found this a little weird at first but then I realized that KFC just invented the perfect way to start your morning! Coffee, in an edible cookie cup with white chocolate and the smell of a good day all wrapped up in one tiny package! It’s genius! Though they actually look like Dominique Ansel’s Milk & Cookie Shot, I think it’s a good take on it and definitely a step up for KFC. This seems to be one of their more sophisticated products as opposed to the recently released Double Down Dog in Manila.
The Scoff-ee Cups are still in development and should be available in a limited number of stores in the UK by the time summer rolls around. Hopefully this is a big hit so they can bring these delicious little things to Manila as well!
