Verdict: The gooiest grilled cheese in this part of town!
Budget: P350 – P500
Ever since I watched Chuck Bass make a Truffle Grilled Cheese Sandwich on Gossip Girl in 2007, I have longed for a Grilled Cheese Sandwich that would blow my mind! Almost 7 years later, I think I’ve found it!
Last week, I was at Hole in The Wall in Century City for dinner and I finally decided to try the sandwiches at Mister Delicious (usually I would head right towards Bad Bird). The last time I was there, their Gooey Grilled Cheese wasn’t available so when they told me that it was available, I immediately decided to try it out. I thought that paying P240 for a Grilled Cheese sandwich was a bit much but once I got my sandwich, all thoughts about the cost of the sandwich flew right out the window!
The sandwich was perfectly crispy on the outside and perfectly moist and gooey on the inside. Even the crust was tasty because besides melting Cheddar, Provolone, Monterey jack and Emmental Cheese on the sandwich, the multigrain bread itself is buttered which is what I’m sure makes the sandwich crispy on the outside. That’s right – 4 kinds of cheese + butter!
The serving size is good enough for 2 and I actually do recommend sharing it because with that amount of cheese, it’s easy to get sick of all the flavors. You could leave your taste buds feeling overwhelmed should you decide to finish the sandwich by yourself. The sandwich comes with a side of Sweet Potato Chips and one pickled cauliflower. They cut the sandwich into two and place it on top of each other – it’s best eaten one at a time, pacing yourself and cleansing your palate with water and Kamote Chips.
The next thing I am going to do with this sandwich is to take it home and try putting truffle oil on it! I hope it works out.
